During the weekend of July 12 and 13, Crossgen was present in Lisbon at the first stage of the Kings of WOD, the latest and most innovating fitness competition for High Intensity Training athletes, with participants from all over the world. As Golden Sponsor of the event, Crossgen represented the Viking tribe with three sponsored athletes fighting for the title, and all three of them were awarded for their efforts. The event also featured an exposition, where Crossgen presented their product line dedicated to professional High Intensity Training athletes, as well as their equipment and accessories. The competition, being the main point of attention, was made up of 6 WODs. All were designed with attention to detail not to be mere tests of strength, but also of agility, resistance and coordenation.     The WOD that determined the winners, called Heroes Graveyard by Crossgen, put the 6 best athletes in each category to the test. In as little time as possible, they had to perform: 15 Snatch 70/45kg 15 Toes to bar 20 Front Squats 70/45kg Handstand walk 10m 30 bar facing burpees Handstand walk 10m 20 Front Squat 70/45kg 15 Toes to bar 15 Snatch 70/45kg 10/6 Bar muscle ups     The following athletes were crowned as winners in this first Kings of WOD edition in Lisbon: Elite Male: 1st place: Alexandre Jolivet (Crossgen) 2nd place: Erik Toth 3rd place: Bruno Militão (Crossgen) Elite Female: 1st place: Carmen Bosmans 2nd place: Oksana Slivenko 3rd place: Elia Navarro Garcia Masters Male: 1st place: Fabrice Lages (Crossgen) 2nd place: Pina Ramos 3rd place: Luis Miguel Bruno Ribeiro Masters Female: 1st place: Alessandra Taddei 2nd place: Karin Seelow 3rd place: Sancha Campanella     Along with the spectacular show in the arena, the whole atmosphere, the setting, as well as artists and musicians, took the spectators on a real journey through time. Carmen Bosmans couldn’t have done a better job at defending her Celtic tribe, as she was ultimately crowned Queen of WOD. Lacee Kovacs was present to represent his Barbaric tribe, but he did not compete. Could it have been an injury, or was it a strategic move of his? To the audience’s surprise, Oksana Slivenko, who ultimately...

If you’re into High Intensity Training, you’ll want to find out more about The Kings of WOD. This groundbreaking competition is going to be the First European Fitness League for High Intensity Training athletes. Crossgen is very honored to be one of the golden sponsor of this international event, and will be providing you with firsthand information. In this 1st edition, the league is divided into 3 stages. The first will take place on July 12th and 13th in Lisbon, Portugal. Two more will be realized, in respectively Spain and Italy. The Kings of WOD is based on a unique and dynamic concept. The competition takes us on a journey to ancient times when civilizations would select their best warriors to serve in their armies, by testing their physical strengths and abilities. The participating athletes are free to choose between five different tribes to represent and defend: the Romans, the Celts, the Barbarians, the Vikings and the Iberians. After the three stages, the winner will be crowned The King of WOD.     The athletes will compete for points that will be attributed at the end of each stage. After each of the stages has been completed, the best athletes in each category (Elite Male, Elite Female, Masters Male and Masters Female) as well as the best performing athletes of each tribe, will compete each other for the title of The King of WOD. Registrations are open on the website, and the prizes are certainly inspiring: there is €10,000 in prize money as well as various supplements to be won.  Several internationally renowned athletes will be joining the event, such a Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, Rasmus Wisbech, Carmen Bosmans, Riccardo Donati and Lacee Kovács. Besides participating as an athlete, you can also sign up as a volunteer or jury member on the official The Kings of WOD website. It is a unique opportunity for you to participate, be around the athletes, and see the “arena” from a different perspective. Join this revolution! What are you waiting for? Join our tribe and go down in history as The King of WOD!...

The Power of Will

How many times in High Intensity Training were you faced with challenges you thought were impossible to overcome? How many times have you thought you couldn’t lift a certain weight, and the mere thought of trying and failing prevented you from giving it a shot? Believing you can do it doesn’t mean you actually can. However, believing you can’t will certainly keep you from ever achieving your goals. Thus, it is clear what you should do and how you should think. Believe in yourself, trust you will overcome your limitations and you will be on the right track to make it happen! The programme carried out in your box is meant to enable you to evolve, to attain new PRs, to learn new exercises, to lift heavier loads, to make you faster. However, it is the attitude towards these exercises that will dictate your progress.     In your mind, what are you really capable of? The difference between something impossible and an achievement is largely a matter of belief. Many things that were once thought impossible are now so common that everybody takes them for granted. Each of those things were accomplished because someone believed it could happen. How much are you holding yourself back due to lack of conviction? You can stop holding yourself back and start making some serious progress with positive thinking and determination! Each and every moment throughout your workout is guided by your beliefs. Fortunately, you can use this to your own advantage. If you tell yourself over and over again you’ll achieve something, eventually you will. Think about all the exercises you have been avoiding because you kept telling yourself you wouldn’t be able to do them. Better yet, think of the times you gave a new exercise a shot and surprised yourself by actually managing to do it. Now, imagine what would happen if you were to apply this positive approach and predisposition every time you were faced with a new and different challenge. You would certainly experience the fantastic satisfaction of achieving goals you previously considered impossible.     First steps must be taken with the profound belief they are leading somewhere. At the end of the day, it...

Stop Blaming

Stop Blaming

By on Aug 8, 2013 in News | 0 comments

Have you ever blame someone else for your failure? Maybe it’s time to start telling yourself: ‘It’s my fault!’. Transposing this to training and High Intensity Training, have you ever blame your coach for not achieving that PR? Have you ever blame your High Intensity Training Affliliate for not having this or that equipment? Have you ever blame the weather for being too cold or too rainy? Have you ever blame your parents for not having been born in the right country to practice High Intensity Training? Well, maybe it’s time to tell you a big true, you’ll never have the perfect conditions to achieve your goals. You will always make some sacrifices to be who you want to be. But the good news is that it’s all up to you. You have the power to decide what to do with your body and your time. This 2 things belong to you and it’s how you use them, will determine your future. We are always surrounded by great examples of people who didn’t have all the tools, all the knowledge, all the right people around them, and still manage to achieve their goals. We have this talentless boy, who have been refused by his basketball coach, and became the best NBA player of all time; We have the tall athlete who have been told he will never been sprinter, and now he is a record holder; etc… etc… What those athletes did? They don’t blame their Coaches or their Genetics… they work harder, they did not quit, they assumed full responsibility for their future and became who they dream. So stop Blaming and start to taking full responsibility, and please, pave the way to your...
